Oscar Wilde said this of color:

“Mere color, unspoiled by meaning, and unallied with definite form, can speak to the soul in a thousand different ways. ”

Charlie at Patti’s said this of primer:

“Always use Primer. Priming ensures better adhesion of paint to the surface, increases paint durability”

KNOW YOUR VALUE

RULE #1

Pdiddy’s Instagram last night. @LauraBays sent this to me to remind me of my value.  The line between business and personal depends only on how dark you make it. My line is invisible to the naked eye. I am firm believer that what you learn in life applies to the entire picture. I have been asked a lot in Goldman Sachs 10-Thousand Small Businesses for a vision and a mission state.  Two more sepearate ideas that blur in lines. The mission statement of the Jerry McGuire Manifesto is easy so I will start there.  The mission is to feel good and teach lifestyle from personal experience.

2013-04-24 18.06.40

#11 is the understanding of value. I got a personal lessonlast night, as I was preparing to host the wonderfully talent and inspiring legendary designer, Christopher Hyland. This is a man who understands who he is and lives his life from that understanding. I attached a link to my introduction.

YOUTUBE INTRODUCTION:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11dx6mln6xc&sns=em

YOUTUBE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11dx6mln6xc&sns=em

Christopher Hyland is a leader in the industry. He believes in himself. He believes in his creativity and represents a high end luxury brand that is himself. That simple. That brand is tangible. You can buy his textiles. It is also an idea, you can buy his virtually.  The magazine is HYLAND.  Grab it on itunes as an app. His approach to lifestyle is forward thinking with a reflection on tradition. His brand is second to none.

Unknown

Christopher Hyland personifies the first tip to understanding your value. Believe in yourself and believe that what you want is possible for you. When you are balanced in your mind on who you are and what you stand for you can make the right decisions about the future. That opportunity to say yes or no in business and in relationships is powerful. It is your positive energy and your extreme value.

2013-04-24 19.59.28

As the lecture moved forward last night a personal relationship that I appreciated ended for me. I learned someone I really liked was interested in pursuing another relationship. Value also involves confidence. I bravely stated my value in the conversation. I am second to none. Value means knowing what you want and acting from it. Know this.  It is difficult at first but when you understand what you want, that has value. That value can be quanitified. When you set that value for yourself, you can act from that place. The world will take care of you.

Mind has value: It is the most powerful asset we have. Use it. Understand that the relationship you have with your own value is from one place. Apply your value to every aspect of your life and you will succeed.

Love is an energy which exists of itself. It is its own value.
Thornton Wilder

TALK AT TIGER LILY’S: THE FOUR-LEGGED QUESTION

I was with the kids on Thursday. It is all part of my small business growth plan as taught by Goldman Sachs 10-Thousand Small Businesses. Rule on business profit engagement, despite it all MAKE ROOM FOR THE KIDS. Yes they are exactly why we are all doing what it is we do. It is about love and respect for the future. The future is bright so protect it, let it guide you and do it right. That is the Buddha inside me, the other part is Jew.

TRASH OR TREASURE ?

I had #Nicktheintern start this one:

“Here’s the infamous (to us anyway) coffee table we all been talking about! Like any other day (I don’t know the reference here. Footnote, ask Nick. ) there’s always a heated debate at Tiger Lily’s. So many questions so little answers. The real question is JUNK OR SELL? I am the reporter on this case. Sam, the forever journalist, suggested an interview.

BEFORE & AFTER: THIS IS HOW I SEE IT

BEFORE & AFTER: THIS IS HOW I SEE IT

Image

This is how I see it. Everything has a before, middle and end. Sometimes that end is a new beginning. I am many things, but a philosopher I am not. So for now we will stick to the simple equation that lives in an area before end meets new again.

Beginning, middle and end depends on the stage when you arrive.  I found these panels in the middle which is right smack in between two different lives. They were pieces of what was once a wood panel room divider. I was searching for a mirror. These were leaning vertically against a wall. Before my haggle-style discount the panels were $50.00 each.

BEFORE:

AFTER: MIRRORS
THE FAIREST OF THEM ALL
BUY ME: http://www.tigerlilysgreenwich.com

AFTER: The after is the beginning of a new incarnation. I became philosophical despite myself. The middle doesn’t in this case lead to an end. We will leave these mirrors in a vaccum where poets, artists and creators exist. They are attached to a wall, hanging on positive energy.

The Edith Wharton once said, “There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.

Maybe we are both.

JERRY MCGUIRE MANIFESTO #10: ALWAYS TAKE RISK

JERRY MCGUIRE MANIFESTO #10: ALWAYS TAKE RISK

The RISK: Negative Cash Flow Birthday Outing

THE REWARD: Potential Relationship Investment

Always take risk, especially if it is your birthday. And, dressed up like you’re Queen for a Day. Straight ladies and gay guys you know what I am talking about. Straight guys, understand this,  Queen for a Day; it is a sensation.

To my business school junkies who read me as a business owner and a social media experiment on leadership, I will break it down in financial terms.  The more you risk, the more you make. It is that simple. High risk pays off.  I too wish the equation was bigger so I wouldn’t have to solve it, understand it, believe in it and wish for its truths.

I believe. On my birthday I acted from that place. I went out penniless. It was the culumination of a day that among many circles I was recognized for my birthday. #Facebookfriends  #thankyou #138+strong. #talkingtigerlily’s, a home office serenade.

JOHN HANCOCK
ON A JOURNEY WITH OUT MONEY IN MY POCKET
RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS PAYS OFF

I didn’t send my John Hancock, but I recently took down this one.  This is the contact information for the New York City Police Officer that leant me $2.00 to pay a cabbie when I ran out of cash. Random act of kindness only three-days before the Boston Marathon Terrorist Attack. Marathons is the epitome of life’s positive journey and today that very notion went under attack.

UnknownThe police officer leant me two-dollars on Thursday night. It saved me a night in jail. For a business women, I am the first to admit the value of money falls short on me. I  bought this shirt Saturday, in spite of my bank account.

I bought that shirt on Madison on the Upper East Side. The same afternoon I hit 2nd Avenue Goodwill.

NANETTE LEPORE

Let me go back to the original story. I was in a cab. It was my birthday. I knew I had to dress the part. I took along Laura’s Christian Louboutin shoes. They were in my bag when I ran out of money to pay the cab. I was two dollars short and knew that I couldn’t get money out of my bank account. That’s risk. At one point I tried to bargain trade the shoes.

LOUBIE SHOES

CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN
RETAIL: $1,195.00
SALE: $2.00 & THE INTANGIBLE VALUE OF KINDNESS

The officer didn’t want the shoes. She gave me $2.00 to pay the cabbie and meet a very special friend out. The RISK: Kindness. The REWARD: Humanity. The RISK: Go out penniless like Cinderalla. The REWARD: Feeling like a princess in every situation you meet.

I leave you in repetition. I will repeat this small business tip. Take Risk. It is worth the Reward.

“Whatever you wish for, you keep. Have faith in your dreams, and someday, your rainbow will come smiling through. No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dreams that you wish will come true.”

-Cinderalla

If only Christian Louboutin had been there to make her glass shoe.

JERRY MCGUIRE MANIFESTO #9: ALL SIGNS POINT TO YES

This is the first sign of whats to come. More blogs. I had Nick The Intern start this one, so let that be a warning, like my sister Felice’s favorite book growing up by Sesame Street, narrated by the shaggy blue monster Grover. “There’s a Monster at the End of this Book.”

This is my book, I hope you’re reading chapter by chapter as it unfolds. The Jerry McGuire Manifesto, on the New York Time’s Best Seller, author Samantha Beth Knapp. Last name, chosen. It belongs to my step father. I took it as a commitment to family.

JERRY MCGUIRE MANIFESTO 8: THE OLD CAN ALWAYS BE NEW

MIRROR MIRROR ON THE WALL

Image

BEFORE: IT’S ALL IN WHAT YOU SEE. VISUALIZE.
LATER I WILL REVEAL.

Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all? Welcome me back to the Jerry McGuire Manifesto. This is #8:  THE OLD CAN ALWAYS BE NEW. I have been absent from this small business class for two days, going on three? Maybe love is in the air or is that just the plain old awesome good weather we had today for the first time all Spring? It is the end of the third quarter and yes I know Michigan lost! It happened later, but they lost.

So much has happened, where do I start?  That’s easy. Graditude. I am so thankful that my company is growing. I am the luckiest girl in the world! Smiles blaze. In that short time or long one depending on your perspective, we pulled off an absolutely amazing before and after. This among other things.

I present in this manifesto a double before and after. Entertain me, if you will. This is a catch up game and I intend to deliver.  Since the AD Home Show wrapped on Sunday, March 24th, we have met new clients, signed , lucrative deals and executed a CUSTOM home staging. This is  all in two-weeks time. That is momentum. That is what this blog is all about. World class shares that always answer the question Why Custom?

Image

BEFORE:
THIS IS WHY CUSTOM

The Sandwich Before is an a staging. Staging has two clients. In business you have to always identify your client. In Real Estate, this means get them to new. I have learned a majority of homebuyers want to buy new. It once had a catchy name, Bubble. The best part now is old can really be new. It has creater value. The old can always be new. This room has tons of potential. Here’s the proof.  The following two pictures were taken three-years ago.

THE OLD CAN ALWAYS BE NEW

This is the AFTER for the first picture. I didn’t mean to trick your eyes. The mirror as you saw it in the first picture was in our garage, collecting dust. It was desperate for a new home. Every mirror needs a home. It is a look inside the soul. The soul, knowledge I am sharing, in thanks to my education at Goldman Sachs 10-Thousand Businesses, for the #share, has two components that break down four-different ways.

It has been established that assertive and responsive traits of your character level in four degrees. You are either one of these my friends or colleague:
